Rewilding My Lot

Converting a new developer lot into a nature ecosystem — my journey

Incy Wincy Spider

I spotted this cute critter outside my garage about a week ago. It’s a Western Spotted Orbweaver (Neoscona oaxacensis).

It’s a determined soul. Since I found it, its web has been demolished on a daily basis by heavy rain or strong wind. And yet it remains. Sometimes I’ve seen it on a web (which is hard to photograph), and here it is back on the wall with web remnants hanging down in front of the painted wood.

For my American friends, in England I grew up with “Incy Wincy Spider”. Your equivalent is “Itsy Bitsy Spider”. Is that your earworm for the day? You’re welcome.
