Rewilding My Lot

Converting a new developer lot into a nature ecosystem — my journey

Shredding Before A Storm

This week a tropical storm was forecast to hit Texas and so I hustled to finish the current shredding task. I had Firewheel and Sunflower stalks that were already cut and drying out, and I didn’t want to get them wet again so out came the trusty shredder.

This time I put the resulting mulch in the back garden, in areas where I think I will want Firewheels and Sunflowers again next year (this mulch is packed with seeds).

Here it is after 1.4 inches of rain, so it seems to stay in place well.
