Rewilding My Lot

Converting a new developer lot into a nature ecosystem — my journey

Moving Texas Mountain Laurel To Bigger Pots

By way of experiment, I was able to germinate several Texas Mountain Laurel (Sophora secundiflora) seeds a few weeks ago [post].

Until now, the seedlings have been in 4-inch pots indoors in our guest room. I was holding off moving them into bigger pots until it was cool enough outside to move them into the garden. Now that the temperature has dropped a few degrees, it was time to make the upgrade.

At the time of repotting I had 15 seedlings, all small but happy. They were moved into 1-gallon pots with planting mix and Mycorrhizae, and moved to an area near the patio where I have rigged up a little afternoon shade by attaching pillowcases to my newly installed trellis! The other pots there are Mexican Buckeye seedlings, and other things that are waiting to be planted in the garden.
