Green Anole

Anyone with any sort of established garden might wonder why I’d post a picture of a common lizard. This a Green Anole (Anolis carolinensis).

However, in my situation, starting with the somewhat sterile environment of a new developer lot, finally seeing wildlife like this is a sign of progress. In my just over two years here, I have caught a glimpse of a lizard out of the corner of my eye maybe four times in total. This is literally the first time that I’ve seen one here that is stationary so that I could identify it properly.

So despite this being a common lizard, it hasn’t been common for me yet, and this Green Anole was a finding to celebrate.

    Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying your blog. Such an inspiration. I am working on a small habitat in pots at the present, and hoping to start a blog at some point. Your work on your lot, and the blog itself inspire me and give me ideas. Thank you for sharing your adventures in rewilding with the rest of us. Congratulations on the green anole!
