Rewilding My Lot

Converting a new developer lot into a nature ecosystem — my journey

Skeleton-Leaf Goldeneye

I have two Skeleton-Leaf Goldeneye (Viguiera stenoloba) shrubs that were planted last year — one in front of the house and one behind. The one in the back yard is doing particularly well and still has plentiful blooms in December. This is an extremely drought-tolerant plant that blooms in summer and fall.

At the moment, this Skeleton-Leaf Goldeneye is about the same size as its Flame Acanthus (Anisacanthus quadrifidus var.wrightii) neighbor (on the left in the photo below), but over time, the Flame Acanthus will become the bigger one.
