Many of the things I find in the garden are noticed when I’m not searching for them at all. I happened to be looking closely at grass beside our house when I spotted something moving. It was the tiniest toad I have ever seen — less than half an inch in length and dwarfed by the surrounding blades of bermudagrass. I presume that it’s a Gulf Coast Toad, since that is what I see most commonly around the nearby pond, and they certainly have been mating.
